It shares no borders, sits relatively distant from any other nation, has no real national enemies, has a safe democracy and a diverse landscape with many remote places to hide away within. Furthermore, it ranked #1 on the Global Peace Index in 2009.

Mutuo County, China Considered the last county in China without a road leading to it, Motuo is a small community in the Tibetan Autonomous Region that remains one of the few places in Asia still untouched by the modern world. Just getting to Motuo is a Herculean task, as travelers must follow a grueling overland route through frozen parts of the Himalayas before crossing into the county by way of a 200-meter-long suspension bridge. The county is renowned for its beauty—Buddhist scripture regards it as Tibet’s holiest land—and it is said to be a virtual Eden of plant life, housing one-tenth of all flora in China. Despite its stunning geography and natural resources, Motuo still remains something of an island unto itself.

Pitcairn Island is a tiny speck of land located nearly dead in the center of the southern Pacific Ocean. Its closest neighbors are the Gambier Islands and Tahiti to the West, but even these are several hundred miles away. The island, which is the last remaining British territory in the Pacific, has a standing population of some fifty people, many of whom are descended from crew-members of the famed HMS Bounty. In 1789, the Bounty was the setting for a now-legendary mutiny, when crew-members enchanted by the idyllic life of the native Pacific islanders overthrew their commander, burned their ship in a nearby bay, and settled on Pitcairn. Today, the descendants of those sailors mostly make their living off of farming, fishing, and selling their extremely rare postage stamps to collectors, but even with modern transportation they still remain one of the most isolated communities in the world.

Seychelles Aside from being safely isolated from the rest of the world in the middle of the Indian Ocean, this beautiful island nation is a great place to forget about your worries. Isolation is the key here. And conflict is as transparent as the water.

Papua New Guinea the canopy covered, mountainous nation contains some of the most isolated places in the world. Tuck yourself away in a nook here and it may be one of the few places left where you can completely insulate yourself from the outside world.

Canada is the second largest nation in the world, yet it only shares a land border with one other country– the U.S.A.– and it is a peaceful border. That means there is a great expanse to escape to, if need be. Furthermore, Canada has few world enemies, ranks consistently high on the Global Peace Index, and is relatively homogeneous.

If you are at all interested in living a simple primitive lifestyle you must read the entirety of this article. Realities of Going Primitive

A small excerpt from the article.

“Food variety is fairly limited in the primitive diet. That does not mean it isn’t a good diet. Studies of pre-contact primitive peoples the world over have found that these “limited” diets meet every body requirement. In the book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, by Weston Price, it was concluded that these primitives had unbelievable endurance, erect postures and cheerful personalities. They were found to have excellent bone structure and well developed jaw and teeth free from decay. In case after case, Price found no incidence of cancer, ulcers, tuberculosis, heart or kidney disease, high blood pressure, muscular dystrophy or sclerosis or cerebral palsy.

Price also spoke of these primitive societies having nopsychiatrists, no crime, no prisons, no mental illness, alcoholism or drug addiction. Every baby was nursed by its mother, and there were no neglected children. In other words, physical health went hand in hand with mental and emotional health.

The Hunzas, who were living in the Himalayas, were studied by an English physician named Robert McCanison. The results mirrored those found by Price. It was said a Hunza messenger could carry a message to a village 35 miles away and return the same day with no signs of fatigue!

Other groups of aboriginal people studied by doctors in pre-contact periods also agree with Price’s findings.”-Brent Ladd Realities of Going Primitive

Building a Natural Swimming Pool. http://survivalmanadventures.com/SurvivalVillage/?p=126&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=building-a-natural-swimming-pool http://survivalmanadventures.com/SurvivalVillage/?p=126#comments Sun, 10 Jul 2011 09:11:30 +0000 Admin http://survivalmanadventures.com/SurvivalVillage/?p=126 Read more]]> To build a natural swimming pool you must first start by digging a hole will slopes on the side and either covering the bottom with smooth rocks or creating a water proof membrane. You must have at least 50% of the pool shallower on the surrounding sides with plentiful vegetation to naturally filter the pool. You also must have the water flowing through the pool either with a pump or building the pool near flowing water and rerouting the water into the pool with the ability to control the flow. You can create steps with dry-stacking flat rocks.

Here are some example below.
